Greetings from the world of performing kids!


The 2nd Great Eastern International Kids Performing Festival (GEIKPF) will be held in Singapore from 29th May to 26th June 2010. This is the second time the festival is organised in Uniquely Singapore to focus on showcasing the best of young talents in performing arts from all over the world.

This unique festival celebrates children’s and youth’s passion towards excellence in performing arts.

There will be many exciting events like camps, workshops, concerts and free fringe shows of all genres to inspire the audience, young and old. There is also an international performing arts competition, the Singapore Performing Arts Junior Championships (SPAJC) on 23rd – 26th June 2010, for youths from all over the world to participate in. This
year, we are producing a classical concert featuring the Prodigies of the World featuring Simone Porter (USA), Michael Province (USA), Nathan Chan (USA/Canada) and Shuan Hern Lee (Australia).

The month-long event will be an opportunity to provide talented youths to showcase excellent performances that will inspire their peers to engage in performing arts. With an effervescent and creative spirit, the Great Eastern International Kids Performing Festival is dedicated to bringing quality performances to children and families. It also aims to be a catalyst for discovery and growth towards excellence of young talents.

In line with this, we would like to invite you to compete or simply enjoy watching this world class event organised to showcase talents from around the world.

We have different categories to choose from for youth aged 7-19 years. The Grand Prize is US$5000 and the SPAJC 2010 Trophy. Other prizes include: "BEST OF SINGAPORE" AWARD (US$3000 + TROPHY) and the "TRIPLE THREAT" AWARD (US$2000 + TROPHY).

Terms and Conditions


Eligibility

1. Entries are accepted from all youths 7-19 years old from all nationalities who are not professionals,
    recording artistes or past Grand Champion winners of this competition.

Entry

2. Each performance cannot be more than 90 seconds (One and half minute) . Presentation more than 90 seconds will be disqualified.

3. Performers may enter as a soloist or group in all categories .

4. Each Contestant can enter more than one competition , and for each competition only one style.
    Contestants wanting to enter for different styles eg : in vocals solo -pop and vocals solo - musical theater must enter as two separate entrants .
    However, each contestant will only be allowed one style per class per age category in the semifinals and the semifinals .

5. Complete and sign all entry forms with recent photographs and video references (eg: youtube URL address). .

6. List all entries on entry form with synopsis of description of each title of song, type of dance, etc.

7. Participants living outside of Singapore must submit an audition video ( competition piece)  in the format of
    DVD together with the entry forms by 1 June, 2010 or  a video reference on youtube . The url is required to be filled into the entry form.

    All Singaporeans and PR to submit entry form, by 1 June, 2010.

Judging :

8. The organisers reserves the right to substitute judges as necessary.  

9. Performers will be judged according to standards of technical skills and entertainment value.  Performers are evaluated in relation to
    a standard of quality in each competition, category and age group. There will only be one gold, one silver and one bronze winner
    for each competition. Category and age group.

10. Where there is only one performer in a category, the award shall be made on merit, evaluated against the standards. Awards shall not
    be awarded merely because there is no competition. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are given for the top three scorers of each
    category and class.  90-100 points: Gold, 80-89 points: Silver, 70-79 points: Bronze.

11. Evaluation Standards:
      1.   Technical difficulty – degree of difficulty of item
      2.   Technical accuracy – performance skills , precision
      3.   Stage presence – Personal management, poise, composure, mannerisms
      4.   Entertainment Projection – clarity of delivery, attention, attraction, interest holding
      5.   Competition Song/Material Choice:Suitability, arrangement , audience interest
      6.   Innovation – creative practices, originality, imagination
      7.   Appearances – costumes or appropriate dress
      8.   Star Quality : X factor
      9.   Performance – Overall delivery
      10. Championship Vote : Perfect 10 for the top vote by each judge

12. AUDITIONS :

12a.Venue; Popstars City™ - 11 Unity Street, #02-01, Robertson Walk 237995
       Time: 10am-6pm.
       Contestants based in Singapore will be required to audition in person at Popstars City™ in Singapore from 1st -4th June , 2010.
       Contestants who are non residents of Singapore will be required to send in an audition reel of their presentation in the format
       of a DVD video by the 30th April, 2010 and provide a youtube reference with the URL address.

12b. Each Performer is required to introduce themselves. Include such information as name, age, years of experience,
        type of performance, name of selection, the original artist or composer of music used. Contestants will be video recorded and
        Precious Entertainment will exercise all rights to the content. Audition reels sent by overseas contestants will not be returned and
        Precious Entertainment will exercise all rights to the content.

12c. If you are auditioning in multiple competition classes, inform the registration desk personnel if you need time for costume changes.

13. HEATS , QUARTERFINALS, SEMIFINALS and FINALS :

13a. Auditions are held 1-4 June at Popstars City for Singapore residents. HEATS will be held island wide between 8-18:

13b. All international quarterfinalists are to register in person, Singapore on 21-22th June 2010 at Popstars City from 10am – 6pm.
        There will be a compulsory briefing for all quarterfinalists on 22nd June, 2010, Tuesday , 7pm at Popstars City™
        The Quarterfinals will be held at Genexis Theater, Fusionopolis on 23rd June 2010, Wednesday from 10am-6pm

13c. Semi-finals are on 25 June 2010, Friday.
        Rehearsals for Finals on 26 June 2010, Saturday.
        The Finals & Championship are held at the Outdoor Theatre at the Esplanade on 26 June 2010, Saturday, 8pm.

13d. The top three scorers in each competition class and category will be in the finals. Finalists will be announced after each semifinals.
        The medallists and championship will be determined during the finals’ performances.

13e. Only Singaporeans and PR soloists are eligible to win “ Best of Singapore” Award.
        The winner of “ Best of Singapore” is also eligible for the Grand Championship.

13f. The Grand Champion will receive the prize money of US$5000 as well as the Grand Champion trophy 2010.
       “ The Best Of Singapore “will represent Singapore to participate in an international Competition in 2011 with sponsorship
       expenses up to US $3000.
       The “Triple Threat “ winner is highest scorer of three different competition class wins US$2000
       and one year scholarship with KIDS PERFORMING™ / POPSTARS CITY ™ if living in Singapore.
       The Moove Rhythm Award is presented to the best dance group with the prize money of US $2000.
       All monies wil be paid out after the competition according to the currency exchange rate on 26th June 2010.

13g. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, Grand Champion Award and the “Best of Singapore” Award, and the Triple Threat Award
        will be awarded during at the prize giving ceremony at the end of the competition.
        The Grand Champion and trophy will be announced and awarded during the closing ceremony. Should the “Best of Singapore”
        breach any rules or default or due to extenuating circumstances be unable to attend the international competition,
        the 1st runner-up will represent Singapore in the international competition

Rules , Regulations and Guidelines:

14.   It is important that you notify the co-ordinator of a cancellation or need for rescheduling immediately for the auditions.

15.   Performers to supply own personal equipment eg : guitar – costumes, CDs, music stand, instruments, props, etc.
        (Piano furnished, drums and amps provided). No adult accompaniment. Please indicate your technical requirements for sound
        and lights on the application form eg : microphone, mic stand etc

16.   Backing tracks or music for the performances are to be submitted at least two days before all competitions. Accompanying music
        are to be in CD format of good quality. The organisers will not be responsible for poor quality playbacks or technical malfunctions
        should the CD be of defect , scratched, in wrong format or of poor quality.
        Please indicate name, category and song title in each each CD submitted. Use one CD for each performance competition.
        Do Not record two different performance track into the same CD.

17.   All contestants must be committed to be present for all competition dates and rehearsals to  qualify to take part in the Singapore
        Performing Arts Junior Championship. The organisers will not entertain any request of change of dates or times.

18.   Quarterfinalists have to report to specific venues as allocated by the organizer 60  minutes before allotted time slot.
        Late comers will be disqualified. No sound checks will be provided at this rounds.

19.   All Contestants who made it to the quarterfinals are required to pay a non refundable entry fee of S$100 per competition class
        and per style.Payment is to be made in Singapore dollars in cash at the time of registration on 22nd June 2010.

20.   All semifinalists must be available for the competition between 25th and 26th June 2010 , and the finals on the 26th of June 2010
        at the required venue from 3pm to 10pm. Contestants not present will be disqualified .

21.   All performances, lyrics, costumes, and behavior must be decent and appropriate.

22.   Any performer displaying unacceptable conduct (e.g. profane language, abusive treatment, etc.) may, at the discretion of the
        Organiser or Judge be dismissed and possibly lose prizes and premium points.

23.   Performer must be in appropriate costume or apparel for the type of performance.

24.   A second back-up CD is advisable.

25.   All instrumentals must provide a copy of the musical score for the judges. Vocalists must provide a copy of the lyrics for the judge.
        Background music on CD cannot contain lead vocals, but can have chorus vocals.

26.   All music, Minius ones lyrics, scores must be submitted during the auditions and pre-approved before quarterfinals commence. 

27.   Precious Entertainment reserves the right to represent exclusively winners or any contestant deem fit for all engagements and
        performances worldwide for at least one year.

28.   Precious Entertainment reserves the right to use the names, sobriquet, autograph, likeness, photograph, portrait, caricature,
        voice silhouette and all other products of the event in connection with any commercial exploitation including any merchandising
        and/or publishing or music publishing endeavours without the express written consent of the contestant

29.   All international contestants shall obtain all necessary passports, visas, permits, or other similar documentation to take part in
        this competition and if as a result of any application for any of the foregoing being refused or any permit, passport, visa,
        licence permission or consent being withdrawn revoked or cancelled, the contestant shall be unable to participate and any fee paid
        to the organiser to be non-refundable with no further claims from the organisers.

30.   The Organiser  shall be entitled at its discretion by notice to the contestant to suspend or terminate participation by the contestant
        and/or any members of his entourage if the contestant refuses or fails to perform or observe or is otherwise in breach of any
        of the obligations undertakings or warranties on the part of the contestant contained in this terms and conditions.

31.   Without prejudice to the other rights of the Company, quarterfinalist application will be automatically cancelled and deemed
        void if the payment for the competition fee is not received seven (7) days after the auditions.

32.   Should the Competition  be cancelled before the date of the Event for any reason whatsoever which causes the organisers
        and contestants further execution of this competition to be impossible, the organisers shall not be responsible or liable to
        the contestant for any costs, expenses, losses or damages suffered or incurred by the contestants as a result of any event beyond
        the reasonable control of The Company.

33.   This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore in every particular including formation and
        interpretation and shall be deemed to have been made in Singapore.  Any proceedings arising out of or in connection with this
        Agreement may be brought in any courts of competent jurisdiction in Singapore. The submission by the parties to such jurisdiction
        shall not limit the right of the Orgasniers to commence any proceedings arising out of this Agreement in any other jurisdiction it may
        consider appropriate.
